Chicken rice along Macalister Road

Chicken rice is the fastest and most filling food to go for during busy lunch hour especially if you are sick and tired of economy rice (which is no longer economical nowadays) and just want a simple meal with protein and carbs. One of our favourite chicken rice haunts is this place right opposite the Red Rock Hotel along Macalister Road.

Kowloon Chicken Rice

Kowloon Hainan Chicken Rice

The proprietor has been selling Hainan chicken rice for decades and my husband frequented his stall so much since his college days that the proprietor remembers my husband even till now.

They sell steamed chicken or roast chicken but we ordered the roast chicken because this stall is famous for its tender roast chicken.

Another thing that’s special about this stall is the sauce. It is no normal light soya sauce but has some dark soya sauce with sugar and some chicken stock mixed in. Mix that into the fragrant chicken rice and you will not ask for anything more! The chicken is also very soft and tender, even if we order breast meat.

They are open daily from 11am onwards till about 3pm. They are closed on Mondays.

Rating: 7/10

Price: $$ (RM3.50 per person)

wah the chicken looks all shiny with the sauce, i love dark sauce on my chicken rice. RM3.50 is still so cheap, now, most of the places charge RM4.50 for a plate of basic chicken rice

This is one of the best chicken rice stalls that I frequent a lot. I just love the sweetened dark sauce. I followed the tanned owner ever since he started his business in the then Sri Intan Cafe in Pulau Tikus (Now the place had been converted in a building which housed the present Bandar Baru Supermarket) , then to a shoplot opposite Public Bank Pulau Tikus, and until this present location. That was long right? Haha.. I will follow great food wherever they go.. LOL

Anyway, feel free to drop in my blog if you are interested to try your luck in winning RM100 worth of FREE FOOD.
