I love cinnamon rolls and I used to eat it by slowly unrolling it and getting my fingers all sticky. One of the best cinnamon rolls I ever tried is from the Penang Adventist Bakery at the Penang Adventist Hospital. That was many, many years ago.
However, in recent times, their cinnamon rolls aren’t as good as it used to be anymore. Although their cinnamon rolls are supposedly healthier since it is made of wholemeal flour, I think they should not have compromised on the taste.
I find it quite dry and harder. It is no longer buttery soft and sweet with the wonderful aroma of cinnamon. In fact, I could only detect a faint cinnamon aroma. I remember that years ago, the moment I open the glass door to the building, the smell of cinnamon rolls would assail my senses. Now, they can have boxes of it just out of the oven right outside the bakery all lined up in trays and I would not know it’s cinnamon rolls until I go near and look at what were on the trays.
They also have egg tarts which I used to love. The pastry was crumbly and the egg pudding in the centre was just nice. These are still quite good but again, not as good as I thought it used to be.
Finally, the Penang Adventist Bakery still do sell a variety of healthy wholemeal and sprouted bread suitable for diabetics and those watching their health. However, not all of it is as good as the bread at Rainforest Bakery.

I am not a cinnamon roll lover and since you like it, I would like to recommend you to a small bakery shop in Pulau Tikus market. This corner shoplot has nice and ‘strong’ smell cinnamon rolls. It comes out fresh in trays in the morning.
As the traffic in the market is a one way street, this corner shop is immediately after the market on your left… you won’t miss it. Maybe you can give it a try…you might like it
I know the shop you mentioned. It used to be a yogurt shop and I have not been there for years already! I know they branched out into selling pastries and bread but not sure it is now still the same owner or the yogurt place had closed down and this bakery took over.
Will definitely give it a try. Thanks.
