Kristal Coffee Shop in Pulau Tikus

Published by Foong at 9:12 am under Asian Food, Hawker Food, Where to eat |

We are die-hard Hainan chicken rice and (char siew) roast pork fans so we tend to try out quite a lot of chicken rice stalls all over Penang. One of the stalls we often frequented is the one at Kristal Coffee Shop.

They have absolutely delectable roasted chicken, roasted pork and yes, even roasted duck.

This is what we usually order when there’s five of us lunching there (including in-laws lar). I simply love their:

Otherwise known as char siew. Just look at it. Makes me feel hungry all over again just looking at this picture. It is roasted to perfection, with a crispiness to it and yes, so tasty, I could gobble the whole plate without eating it with the rice at all. Here’s an even closer look:

I also like their roast duck

Yes, it is as good as it looks. The meat is tender and it doesn’t have this strong ‘duck’ smell. They probably marinated it very well.

Here’s a map to the coffee shop. Parking is a bit of a hassle since it’s on the main road so you may have to park quite far and walk over.

Rating: 7/10

Price: $$$ (darn it, most foods everywhere are at this rate nowadays!!)
