I've had steamboat with my son and daughter-in-law (it is fantastic). They live in Singapore. I've tried now for months to find an elec. steamboat with a small grill in the center and each one I find online: they are out. I don't know where to go now to purchase one.

Bentoist: Although I stay in a tropical country where it's hot most of the time, we still do enjoy having steamboat for dinners because it is a great way to have a great time with family and friends.

Ohhh... steamboat is my favorite cold-weather meal. All the prep is in the ingredients and you sit down with family and friends to enjoy at the table. The Weather Channel says it'll rain this weekend and get down as low as 15oC. I should dig out my claypot steamboat set and dust it off since Fall has officially arrived. Yum, your steamboat looks delicious!

Jessie: Hi. This type of meal is usually called steamboat because the traditional cookware used to cook this (instead of the electric cooker) is shaped like a boat with a funnel in the centre and a space below to burn coals. Due to the heat, there are usually loads of steam, thus, steamboat.
It's a Chinese meal all in all, so when Chinese eat, it's usually a feast!
