Chocolate and pork ribs is not so weird after all

Let’s just say I was extremely inspired by Jessie, The Hungry Mouse and her many creative ribs recipe that I wanted to try out some of my own. Since I simply love chocolate in anything (cookies, cakes, snacks, sandwiches, even as it is), why not try it with ribs?

So, I took the plunge and tried it out and this is the result…

Grilled chocolate sesame pork ribs

It was juicy, rich with a tinge of sweetness and the sesame definitely gave it a special flavour. Something you’d like to get your hands dirty as you pick on the bones and nibble on the juicy bits. The best part is that it is very easy to prepare too!

Here’s the recipe for…

Grilled Chocolate and Honeyed Sesame Pork Ribs

Pork ribs, about 4 -5 ribs

Ingredients for sauce

3 tbsp dark soy sauce

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp chocolate sauce

2 tbsp garlic powder

A dash of pepper

1 tsp black pepper

2 tbsp honey + 1 extra tbsp to drizzle over the ribs after grilling

3 tbsp sesame seeds

1 lemon

Instructions

3. Place the ribs on foil-covered tray, you can let the ribs marinade for several hours in the fridge if you want

4. Before you grill the ribs, sprinkle it with sesame seeds (on both sides).

5. Then, squeeze some lemon juice all over the ribs

Note: The lemon juice is to give it a slight lemony tang, so don’t overdo it.

6. Pop the ribs into the oven and grill it for about 15 minutes. Then take it out and turn it over. Grill for another 15 minutes and it should be done. Again, this actually depends on the type of oven and wattage you have. I used a microwave oven (900w) with a grill function so maybe that’s why it cooked faster. If you have a lower wattage oven, extend the grilling time. Just remember to check on it to make sure it’s not burning to a crisp!

Once it is done…you will get this!

Fabulously juicy, tasty and nicely browned ribs

Now’s the time to drizzle it with the remaining honey and serve hot!

So, what do you think?

I have always loved barbequed pork ribs and any grilled pork ribs but it is never easy to find in restaurants here. Now that I know it is so easy to prepare, I shall not need to look for great restaurants with wonderful ribs EVER.
