Invited review: Mexican food at The Islander, Traders Hotel

Now, before I start, I’d like to tell you readers that after today, I’d be away for a short holiday in Bangkok so my posts will all be time-stamped posts until next month. Don’t worry, I’ll give you a close up look at what we ate (including any creepy crawlies) in Bangkok once I get back.

Okay, now, let’s move on to the spicy taste of Mexican food. I’ve always loved mexican food because of all the spices! I remember when we went to LA, we particularly tried out some of the mexican fast foods there too and . . . → Read More: Invited review: Mexican food at The Islander, Traders Hotel

Mini Fudgy Chocolate Muffins…and they are low fat too!

Yes, you are not seeing things. I did put fudgy chocolate muffins and low fat in the same line. And no, you are not dreaming nor am I delusional nor lying nor just plain bonkers. Okay, so I am a bit bonkers but that’s not what I want to blog about today. These are the mini low fat fudgy chocolate muffins I’m talking about…

Actually, I found this Weight Watchers’ recipe from Cajun Chef Ryan’s blog, so do check out his post of this recipe here. That’s how I knew it was low fat. And the best part, you . . . → Read More: Mini Fudgy Chocolate Muffins…and they are low fat too!

Kirishima Japanese Restaurant at Cititel Penang

For the longest time, I keep hearing raving great reviews of Kirishima Japanese Restaurant over at Cititel Penang but never did get a chance to try it out. Until recently. Well, we could hardly stay out of Japanese food anyway so it is a matter of time before we tried it out!

So, let’s take a look:

Ambiance is nice enough. Very Japanese and very comfortable. Now, on to the food…

Chawanmunshi has to be one of Mr Picky’s favourite Japanese food so we had to order one for him and surprisingly, Kirishima has . . . → Read More: Kirishima Japanese Restaurant at Cititel Penang

Oriental Butter Garlic Cod fish Recipe

Like I’ve said countless times, I don’t like fish. They just smell too fishy. A whiff of any particularly fishy-smelling fish will have me gagging, bringing me right back to my pregnant days. I had long ago concluded that I must have developed an aversion to the smell of fish since that pregnancy. And my son is now more than three years old. Still, I can’t stand fishy smells. Uggghh.

But there are exceptions. Of course, there are exceptions. Who could ever live without salmon and cod fish, I ask you? But we won’t talk about salmon today. Today, . . . → Read More: Oriental Butter Garlic Cod fish Recipe

Chicken breast recipes: Healthy wholesome pita with baked chicken breast recipe

Once in a while, I’d get this craving for pita bread, wholemeal pita bread, that is. And no, I am not pregnant but thank you for your concern.

I’m just being my usual food-loving self. So, when I want pita bread, then it is what we have for dinner. Other than being healthy and wholesome and all, it is pretty easy to prepare with minimal cooking. Really, I’m not lying.

Okay, so I cheated by buying the pita bread but heck, it is readily available and the healthy, wholemeal, no-preservative types can also be bought so might as . . . → Read More: Chicken breast recipes: Healthy wholesome pita with baked chicken breast recipe

Penang Food Festival 2009

There’s a reason why the Penang Tourism Action Council head Madam Kee is larger than life, literally. She sure do love her food and when it comes to food events, it simply must be crammed with loads of food. So, I can say that this year’s Penang Food Festival with three main food events in it is pretty interesting.

There’s the iFoodex, which is the food expo by companies hawking their wares. Surprisingly, there’s some new things to be seen like Canned Ikan Keli (catfish) which is a first. There’s also a stall selling fresh and frozen abalone for . . . → Read More: Penang Food Festival 2009

Trying out Mizi Bistro after all those good reviews

For the longest time, I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Mizi Bistro at New World Park. In fact, I’veĀ  walked pass that little restaurant many times and wondered at the crowds there. And yes, there are so many great rave reviews on so many food blogs I know that the food must have been pretty impressive.

So, we gave in to our curiousity and plunge right in to give it a try. Since there are so many food reviews about this place, I think I will just post up the pictures of what we ate and . . . → Read More: Trying out Mizi Bistro after all those good reviews
