I have always been inspired by Jessie’s (The Hungry Mouse) ribs of the week, any ribs she made always seemed just SO good. Much as I love ribs, we seldom have those at home. Mainly because we aren’t really major pork eaters and we don’t eat beef. Still, sometimes, thanks to Jessie’s wonderful recipes, I’d get a craving for some delectable ribs to chew on.
One day, I had this crazy craving (and no, I am not pregnant) for ribs so on the way back, I bought about 1kg of pork ribs to prepare for dinner. This is despite . . . → Read More: Three-step blueberry pork ribs
I’ve not been to Salsa Restaurant for lunch in quite a while and have forgotten why we used to love having lunch at this place. So, we went back recently. I’m happy to find that the restaurant has not changed much even after it has moved to the ground floor of Continental Hotel. I know they moved years ago but I did say I’ve not been to the restaurant in a while.
Here’s the restaurant review:

Now, on to the food… We ordered the set lunch (@RM15 per set) so here’s . . . → Read More: Lunch at Salsa Restaurant
The Senior Citizen Association’s cafetaria is well-known for its Roti Babi, Spring Rolls and several other dishes for quite a long time already. In fact, The Food Critic brought me to this place more than a decade ago and now, finally, I have a chance to share their great food with everyone else!
The Senior Citizen's Association at 7, D.S. Ramanathan
Now, although the cafetaria has signs proclaiming ‘member only’, it is open to the public. So, you don’t have to be a senior citizen who’s a member of the association to eat there. I may not be . . . → Read More: Great homecooked food at the Senior Citizen Association’s cafetaria
Let’s just say I was extremely inspired by Jessie, The Hungry Mouse and her many creative ribs recipe that I wanted to try out some of my own. Since I simply love chocolate in anything (cookies, cakes, snacks, sandwiches, even as it is), why not try it with ribs?
So, I took the plunge and tried it out and this is the result…
Grilled chocolate sesame pork ribs
It was juicy, rich with a tinge of sweetness and the sesame definitely gave it a special flavour. Something you’d like to get your hands dirty as you pick on . . . → Read More: Chocolate and pork ribs is not so weird after all
I’ve been meaning to learn to make our own hamburgers so that we do not need to eat those store-bought frozen hamburgers which are oily and full of MSG. Considering hamburgers merely consist of ground meat, how hard can it be right?
Besides, The Food Critic is really crazy about hamburgers. Every time we go to the grocery store, he simply must stop at the frozen food and pick out a packet of hamburgers. A few times when we do eat out, he’d insist on choosing an American restaurant like TGIF serving good burgers (nope, it is definitely not . . . → Read More: Homemade herbed hamburgers, two ways to eat it
For Penangites who frequently eat in Pulau Tikus area, I am sure they would have heard about Top Top Restaurant which used to be at a shop along the main road of Burmah Road.I remember it used to be quite swanky (at least by my student days standard) and eating there was considered a luxury. The food is also quite good.
That was quite a long time ago and then one day, they closed down. I didn’t know what happened to them until in recent years, I heard that they are operating out of their home in the same . . . → Read More: Dinner at a restaurant inside a house
I have been reading too many of Jessie’s (The Hungry Mouse) meaty posts and finally, I gave in and tried one of her pork ribs recipe.
Except that I didn’t follow the recipe.
Again.
I just borrowed her recipe and substituted some of the stuff…okay, okay, so I practically added a whole lot of different ingredients except for the pork ribs…so, it is definitely different from her recipe. But still, I do owe it to her as I got the idea for this recipe from her Aleppo Chili Pork Ribs with Peach and Lime Recipe.
