Hawker food galore at Sungai Dua Night Market

Before I start, let me first say that we are a family of pasar malam (night market) junkies. We love visiting night markets and since there is always one on any day of the week, we’d surely make a beeline to one at least once a fortnight. Luckily, we have not been having many rainy nights recently or else we’d not be able to go for our regular pasar malam stint.

So, in this post, instead of writing a review, I’d like to make it into a photo post of the Sungai Dua Night Market which is on every . . . → Read More: Hawker food galore at Sungai Dua Night Market

The food at Little Penang Street Market

I went to this month’s Little Penang Street Market last Sunday and I know it has been a few days now but I still want to post some pictures of the food they sell over at the monthly artsy bazaar.

Balik Pulau pasar malam (night market)

I’ve never really been to the Balik Pulau pasar malam and don’t even know when it’s on until we stumbled upon it last Sunday and find it to be a really great place for some authentic Malay food. Just check out the pictures…

Satay

There are quite a few satay stalls in the pasar malam but we think this one is the best at 30 per stick and it tastes good.

Barbequed Chicken with Peanut Sauce Malay-style

I love the Malay-style barbequed chicken with peanut sauce (ayam panggang) and usually have a very hard time trying to find really good ones. It is only during the fasting month that we get to find a lot of stalls selling this wonderful, tasty barbequed chicken.

The chicken pieces, usually chicken breast meat, drumstick and sometimes chicken wings, are seasoned with peanut sauce, then speared on some sticks and barbequed over coals.

However, during other times, I find that ayam panggang can easily be . . . → Read More: Barbequed Chicken with Peanut Sauce Malay-style

Penang Laksa at the night market and a recipe to make your own Laksa

One of the most unique hawker food in Penang is the Penang Assam Laksa.

I used to have this crazy obsession for Penang laksa so I have tried almost all of the ‘famous’ Penang laksa stalls in the island and even the one in Nibong Tebal! Although now I can live without eating laksa every other day, I still do crave for the fishy, sour and spicy tang that is the trademark of our Penang Assam laksa.

So, today, I will recommend one of my favourite laksa stalls which I can get on Wednesday and Saturday . . . → Read More: Penang Laksa at the night market and a recipe to make your own Laksa
