Easy and simple one dish meals for lazy Sundays

Sundays are usually lazy, relaxing days for most people. Well, for most people except for mothers. Just like any other day, our job as mothers is never done. And on Sundays, when I am not at work, I have to cook for the family, do the house chores and take care of the kids. Unfortunately, my husband works on Sundays so I am usually home alone with the kids. So, when I am feeling particularly lazy on a Sunday, I would prepare one of my all-in-one meals or one-pot meals or one-dish meals, well, whatever you wanna call it.

Fried porridge off the way

I have tried the famous Serdang fried porridge years ago and been back to the place only twice after that. However, the taste of this special dish stayed with me and my husband so when we had the chance, we went out of the way to taste it again.

This place is very remote and quite far off from the toll turning to Serdang, Kedah. From Seberang Jaya, it will take about 45 minutes’ drive. We were on our way back from Taiping so we just make a detour for dinner at Serdang before heading back.

Don’t eat at the fake Chang Kee Restaurant in Nibong Tebal

If you have heard of the famous Teochew food especially crab porridge by Cheang Kee Restaurant in Nibong Tebal, make sure you do not go to the wrong one!

We went there recently and had a rude shock when we realised the real Cheang Kee Restaurant had moved to another location while another owner has taken over its old shoplot.
