Taking a boat ride for exceptional seafood in a quiet fishing village

Firstly, I’d like to apologise for my lapse in updating this blog when I’ve been quite consistent in updating this blog regularly. It’s out fifth wedding anniversary and I had taken time off (from work and from blogging) to spend more time with my Personal Chef/ The Food Critic and Mr Picky.

It is amazing to think that I’ve been together with my Personal Chef for a decade, half of it getting to know each other and another half as husband and wife. We’ve been through a birth of a child, two deaths, heart-stopping moments, terrible illnesses, through bad . . . → Read More: Taking a boat ride for exceptional seafood in a quiet fishing village

Sweet and sour prawns and cuttlefish

I love prawns, especially fresh ones and regardless of whether it is sea water prawns or freshwater prawns, I simply love eating prawns!

I know, I know, it is not healthy to be eating prawns all the time due to the high cholesterol content but hey, it is not everyday that I eat prawns, okay? It isn’t exactly cheap nowadays, anyway. So, when I got about 10 free prawns, this is what I did with it:

Famous seafood shop near the airport

I remember when I was pregnant with my son years ago, I used to have this craving for really tasty porridge and this place became one of our favourite haunts for some clear soup dishes and seafood porridge.

That . . . → Read More: Famous seafood shop near the airport

The real Cheang Kee NT Restaurant

After the travesty of going to the old shoplot in Nibong Tebal where now there is another restaurant by the name of Law Chang Kee Restaurant, we made a point to pay the real NT Cheang Kee Restaurant a visit the next time we passes by.

The restaurant, famous for its crab porridge and Teochew style dishes, is now occupying a corner lot with plenty of places for huge crowds. Since we were in a rush, we did not dine in and only tar pau (packed back) their crab porridge.

Their crab porridge is probably the . . . → Read More: The real Cheang Kee NT Restaurant

Prawn curry next to the bridge

There is this very famous freshwater prawns restaurant in Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal that we occasionally go to. It is about 40 minutes’ drive from the island and if you are staying on the mainland, it is only 30 minutes’ drive.

I never did find out the name of the place and it is like a regular old fashioned coffee shop than a restaurant. It is situated right next to the river and a bridge.

Here is a map to the place. From the toll plaza, go straight and then turn left at the traffic lights. . . . → Read More: Prawn curry next to the bridge
