Durian season started quite a while back (in late April) but earlier on in the season, the fruits were not so good and the price also not so cheap. So, I usually waited till near the end of the season before buying durians and stuffing myself silly till I scare everyone away with my Durian Breath!
But this season, I couldn’t wait. So I went searching for really good durians early in the season and got these:
Chocolate lovers like me do not really need any reason to indulge in the sinfully wonderful dessert / snack but it is wonderful sometimes to learn that eating chocolate is good for your health! Here’s a video on the benefits of eating chocolate everyday which I found interesting:
Alternatively, you can read about the benefits of chocolate (and also get loads of other chocolaty information) at cocoa-chocolate.com or by clicking here.
Now, let’s get down to business. I found this sugar-free, dairy-free, low GI, gluten-free chocolate called Mini Blues over at Cold Storage and couldn’t resist but buy . . . → Read More: Guilt-free Chocolate!
Deep-fried food may not be good for your health but heck, they are darn tasty! I especially like the chicken samosas sold at this stall along a junction at Queen Street.
The fillings are mostly chicken meat, potatoes, onions and spices. The skin is crispy and even though deep-fried, not as oily as you’d expect it to be.

Price: RM1 each
Summary: It is a great tea-time snack but one that you can’t eat everyday because it isn’t very healthy. Besides, the stall isn’t open . . . → Read More: Another great tea time treat!

So, I went around trying quite a few roadside stalls and hawker stalls at hawker centres selling fried chicken till I find a few that I really like. Which is not . . . → Read More: Tasty Spiced Fried Chicken
I have this thing for pastries and nothing hits the spot more than a wonderfully baked, crumbly and perfect chicken pie or apple pie!
TH found this stall and bought some of it for me to try and since then, I was hooked! These pies may be tiny but it sure do pack a punch in taste, flavour and most importantly, it is cheap too!
This is where you get the yummy Apple and Chicken Pies
We took a trip to Nibong Tebal recently and of course stopped by to get one of my favourite local treats at one of the famous local..err…’manufacturers’.
The shop isn’t easy to find as it is located along a narrow lorong off the sleepy town of Jawi and about 5 mins drive from the well-known Cheang Kee Restaurant of crab porridge fame. We did stop by at Cheang Kee for lunch, though and needless to say the food were still just as good and still affordable!
The crab porridge still lived up to its reputation and the other . . . → Read More: Yummy local treats!
